About Tribe

Define and Explain

A candid, respectful, inspiring, and gritty film where four individuals of distinct “tribes” detail their hardships, motivations, and day-to-day lives.

A “tribe” pierces through these definitions. A “tribe” penetrates all outside influences and touches the heart of the matter. A “tribe” endures the long nights, early mornings, and all the trials and tribulations. Like a family, we all have a “tribe” because this life and all its hardships were not meant to be taken on alone.

Everyone, prepare to meet Dallas, Danny, Greg, and Sam. We’ve asked them to take a moment to dive deeper into the question surrounding this film: “Who is your tribe?” For some, the answer was clear. For others, the answer took some reflection. For all, there was an answer.

It has been an honor to get to know these dynamic individuals. You might have run into them or found yourself calling them a classmate, as the best stories always find a way to camouflage themselves into our day-to-day lives.

Diverse Storytelling

Dallas and Gregory

African-American

Dallas and Gregory tell their story from the perspectives of a single mother and a queer man, all while they balance the rollercoaster ride that is being a college student. They don't know where they'd be if it weren't for their tribes.

Daniel

Danny tells his story from the perspective of a first-generation Latino male who has had his share of questioning his heritage, navigating language barriers, and the weight of graduating college. Undoubtedly, Danny's revealing spirit details an inspiring story.

Samuel

Amidst a tumultuous time in his life, Sam tells of how his best coping mechanism stems from sole, fortifying the love of his mother.

Passion

As budding filmmakers, Nigeria and Briana lit a spark within themselves while making this documentary. In 15 minutes, this duo aims to ask and answer all questions geared toward the strength of the family dynamic in today's society. In a world where everyone appears to be doing it alone, the source of our power truly comes from those we rely on and love dearly. A family is subjective, but a tribe is forever.

As strong as they seem, they aren't doing life alone.
